Reading, Reading Everywhere...

Written by Tracey Williams

September was a very exciting month for this once upon a time primary school teacher! After weeks of re-modelling, moving boxes, painting and building, on October 4th we were able to open our small (as of now) LIBRARY !
The long held vision of our base directors has been to have a space where children could come and read at leisure, in comfort and (relative!) quiet.
We added floor cushions, a rug , tree stump stools to create what we hope will be the space to promote success in literacy.
The grand opening ceremony included the cutting of a ribbon, cutting of cake and then several missionaries shared about the significance of libraries in their own culture. Interestingly, one of our national staff members shared how a library had been a place of punishment!!
This week we are slowly introducing all the centre children to a library time - and thus far, with much happiness and enthusiasm.
It has been SO encouraging to see the enthusiasm as our older girls train to be librarians , our younger kids explore the world of books at leisure ... long may it continue!
This library was a long held dream and vision, it felt like forever in finding the space, the resources.... but it has come to pass!
I pray this will encourage you in holding onto your dreams and visions until they too come to pass!
