The Gospel In Action

Written by Kara Westermann

This is Rosa. She is the newest member of our team here in Nicaragua. Yesterday at our team meeting, another team member began to share that there are 2 young girls and their children who have no where to live. They are currently sleeping in the streets outside the Nueva Vida trash dump and they have no food and nowhere to go. They found the girls and their children laying in front of a church at 5am trying to sleep.
Yesterday when she heard this story of these 2 young girls, Rosa said “I will take them in! If Jesus changed my life and gave me a home then He wants to do the same for them.” Rosa also knows what it is like to be homeless. She knows what it is like to have young children and no food to give them. She knows what it is like to live and work in the trash dump. Rosa is no longer homeless. She currently lives in a small one room metal house and she is opening her small home so these girls and young children have a safe place to sleep and so she can show them the Jesus she loves so much. This is the gospel. When we realize how loved and blessed we are to know and love Jesus, we can’t help but be overwhelmed to share Him with others. Love looks like something. It looks like hearing about someone who is in the same situation you once were and co-partnering with God to see Him do the same or greater in their lives.
