The Jesus Chair

Written by Kara Westermann

The Jesus chair. My sweet little Nissi and Junery made the Jesus chair after all 21 of our scholarship kids were having a bit of a challenging week. I sat them down Wednesday afternoon and told them all to forget about their homework. All we are going to do today is worship King Jesus and invite Him to be with us. The Holy Spirit came and He started powerfully touching my kids and our team.
Nissi and Junery took it literally when we said to invite Jesus in. They got an actual chair for Him and sat it between them. And sure enough Jesus showed up and sat in the chair they made for Him ☺️ Junery sat in the chair on Jesus’s lap and He started whispering how she was His princess and He spoke beautiful promises to her about her family. She ran into my arms and cried uncontrollably for almost an hour. I just held her and sang worship songs to Jesus in her ear as she processed His beautiful words to her.
Then Nissi and Junery decided they wanted to sing something special for Jesus. They knelt down on their knees at the base of the chair and began to sing “Perfume a Tus Pies” which is a worship song to Jesus that means “Perfume at Your Feet.”
And then the story gets even better!! The girls went to school the next morning and we had a visitor at our children’s home. The cousin of one of the women who helps us care for the kids came over to visit. She was suffering from swollen legs due to varicose veins and she was in a good deal of pain. Idalia went inside to grab her a chair and she just grabbed the first chair she saw. It happened to be the Jesus chair. The woman sat down in the chair and immediately she started to feel peace. Then she noticed she had no more pain. Shocked, she stood up and began testing her legs. She looked at the chair and saw a paper attached to the back saying “Aqui se sienta Jesus” or “Here sits Jesus.” She started screaming that Jesus had healed her and she started thanking Him. She was kicking her legs into the air and dancing. All her chronic pain was gone! Idalia followed up with her the next day and she said that it was the first morning since she can remember that she woke up without any pain and she went to work in peace with no problems.
This is such a great example of the childlike faith that the Bible speaks about. All these girls did was love Jesus and invite Him in. He loves to show up and He loves to speak to His children and heal them. He is such a good good Father.
