Homes for widows and a new trash dump church!

Written by Kara Westermann Mott

We are grateful to get to continue to build homes for some of the widows who gather for our house church each week! We finished one home before rainy season and we plan to start again in October with plans to build two more before the end of the year.

The first home we built for Dona Maria Felix. We built an extended roof over the porch area because her house is where all the widows meet each week with our team. The women can not read or write so our team goes to them to help lead Bible studies and worship. The women have learned how to pray for healing and they are seeing many miracles in their community! Thanks to Iris Global, we were able to give each of the women a solar powered audio Bible so they can continue to grow in the truth of the Word on their own.

We also built a roofed area beside the Matagalpa trash dump this year and it has been amazing! Several churches and volunteers help our team each week to cook for the kids, have VBS and bless the families. The kids are growing in their knowledge of the Lord and they love to worship and dance! Some of them have been sharing testimonies of healing and encounters they are beginning to experience with the Lord. Please pray for them to continue to pursue the Lord and give their whole lives to our worthy Savior and King!

I (Kara) and my husband, Jamie, head back to Nicaragua in about 3 weeks. We will be helping to lead a group of Iris ministry students who will be serving Beauty For Ashes. Please pray for us and the team.

When I am not in Nicaragua, my husband and I lead a small church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. God is really moving in our city and we need it. There are countless pan handlers, families struggling with drugs and many children in the foster care system here in Fort Smith. We are currently working with DHS to open our home and our hearts to teenagers who are seeking adoption. Please pray for us as well as we lead the mission in Nicaragua from afar and as we work to make an impact in our own city. I am constantly reminded that everywhere that our feet touch the ground is our mission field. I pray that each of you are advancing the Kingdom of God in your own mission fields, cities and towns. All it takes is stopping and loving the person in front of you. May we all continue to have great eternal impact no matter where we are on the earth. Jesus is more than worthy!

With gratitude and big hugs!
