Peter Wilcox and I, along with three provincial leaders, traveled for about a week in the province of Niassa. There we visited many churches to bring encouragement and teaching. We also brought along some clothing and plastic to fix roofs for the flood stricken church members and churches. The last stop was at Sairesse’s church, where they wanted to show us some of the destroyed fields and houses. But there were no more houses. As a river engineer by profession, I saw that they built their houses too close to the river and that this river was likely to flood every 5 to 10 years. I don’t know if the locals realize this. Anyhow, they are in a difficult situation right now and were really down. They have no hope to get a sufficient harvest to make it through the year. Peter helped them remember that they had tough years before and that nothing is impossible for God. He encouraged them to pray, fight, and believe for a great second harvest this year, that would make up for the loss due to the flooding. He helped Sairesse remember the miracle bumper crop he and his wife witnessed in the past, when they put their faith and hope in God. “Put your lives into God’s hands. He is faithful. Trust Him. Stop talking negatively. Don’t look at the situation as a limitation. Instead, look at it as an opportunity to see God intervene and show His love to you.”
In the natural, the situation looks hopeless and desperate. But with God, all things are possible. He cares for all His children and promises to provide for all our needs. We welcome you to contend with us for this miracle bumper harvest. May the LORD send His rain at the right time and the right amount! Let’s wait in hopeful expectation for what God will do, not just in this village, but in all our situations. God is good. Let’s keep the faith and believe for miracles!
