Iris University Scholarship Program
At Iris University, we are committed to equipping Mozambican students with the education, character, and spiritual foundation needed to transform their communities and nation. Today, we educate just over 1,000 students, many of whom come from underserved backgrounds with limited access to higher education. All of our students receive subsidized education: the tuition rates they pay are significantly lower than the cost of their education, making a university degree much more accessible.
While undergraduate students currently pay $76 per month and master's students pay $133 per month, the actual cost of providing education is approximately $163 per month for undergraduate students and $283 per month for master's students. The difference is made possible through our generous Iris Global supporters.
We also provide full scholarships to over 100 students that cover the entirety of their academic journey: 4 years for undergraduate programs at the College of Business, Administration and Law, 5 years for undergraduate programs at the College of Engineering and Exact Sciences, and 2 years for master’s degree programs. These scholarships remove financial barriers making it possible for students to gain the skills needed to fully pursue their callings and reach their potential.
Our immediate priority for the Scholarship Fund is to faithfully support the scholarships we have already awarded, ensuring that every current student is able to complete their education. At the same time, we are working to expand the fund so that even more students can access this opportunity in the future.
Iris Global also has a primary and secondary school where we graduated our first high school class in 2015. We provide education for many vulnerable students living in challenging conditions. One of our priorities with the Scholarship Fund is to give our high school students the opportunity to go to college and continue their studies. Many have this desire, but do not have the means. Our dream would be to expand the scholarship program to give every student the possibility of getting their university degree.
Integrity and Stewardship
The administration of scholarships at Iris University is guided by a dedicated Scholarship Committee driven by transparency, fairness, and excellence. The Committee includes representatives from academic leadership, finance, and student support services, ensuring a holistic and accountable approach.
Scholarships are awarded based on a careful evaluation of academic merit, financial need, and alignment with strategic areas of study. Continued receipt of a scholarship is contingent upon maintaining the required academic and institutional standards. The Committee oversees the full timeline of each scholarship, from application and selection to ongoing monitoring, ensuring that students are supported and that resources are stewarded with integrity.
Regular reviews, clear governance structures, and strict confidentiality standards ensure that every decision reflects our commitment to fairness and responsible management. This process allows us to not only meet current needs, but continually strengthen and improve the program for the future.
