Philippines Relief

The worst typhoon in decades has displaced hundreds of thousands in search of relief and security. Act now to provide aid to the most vulnerable.

Super-typhoon Bopha hit the southern island of Mindanao, Philippines recently. It was the worst storm the nation has seen in over 40 years causing wide spread destruction in a poverty stricken area of the Philippines. Over 500 are dead with the death toll rising daily and many more still missing. More than a quarter million people are homeless and children are in danger of dying from lack of clean water and food in places that are inaccessible.

IRIS Relief is going in! The 1st response team hopes to leave in a few days. We aim to go into the shelters and partner with other relief groups on the ground to help distribute food and aid as well as pray for the sick, broken, the hurting. The team will be ready to go into the worst situations and will network with other organisations and local churches. We aim to have a 2nd response team to go in after Christmas/holidays. This team will have the information from the first team of where to concentrate our efforts in bringing aid and love to the hurting. Our team is comprised of people with a wide range of skills from around the world.

Please pray:

  • for all those affected by this disaster.
  • for the IRIS Relief core team as we make decisions on timing, finances, and where to be.
  • about how you can respond to this crisis.
