As covid continues to impact life here in Zimpeto, this has been a season to reflect on the faithfulness of God. Last week, as daily numbers of infections and deaths soared in Maputo, the President re-introduced many measures to try and slow down the spread of covid. Once again our school is closed and curfews are in place. As a once upon a time teacher I reflect on all this means for the futures of our children. They missed most of their education last year, in 2021 they have been attending school just two or three times a week and now the uncertainty rises again.
BUT.... in 18 months we have just seen 3 of our family test positive - and recover!
BUT … in the midst of closures and restrictions our new girls dormitory is almost complete and we received an incredible donation of a shipping container filled with bedding, furnishings - and much needed clothing for the 55 girls who will call this "home".
We have refurbished a new gymnasium for our youth and are currently equipping a space to be a new library for the centre.
In a global season of difficulties, God has been faithful to His family here in Zimpeto.
I am reminded daily that "God is Good, All the Time" - but I also have to remember to fix my mind on His truth and look for the goodness in every day.
