Jesus Frees A Man From A Drug Den and He Becomes a Disciple!

Written by Kara Westermann

Jesus is alive and He is the God of the impossible! This month there is a beautiful group of disciples from our family that are spending 3 weeks in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua together. We also have the base leader from Iris Bolivia, Carly Brown, spending these 3 weeks with us! It’s so beautiful what the Lord is doing here in Nicaragua in one of the notorious party cities known for drugs and prostitution. Already there has been someone who left a drug den when he heard the gospel being shared and he was born again that day! He was high on cocaine for 3 days straight and now he is free from drugs and has been living with our other disciples and growing in Jesus and attending the discipleship school! There is freedom in JESUS! Our family is growing each week in numbers and also in the Lord. We are going out on the streets and beaches everyday to share the Good News and pray for the sick. God is doing a mighty work and many seeds are being planted and the harvest is coming in! Would you please pray for us? Pray for strength and boldness. Pray that we would have complete trust in the Holy Spirit as we let Him lead and guide us each day. Pray for personal revivals in each of us and in Nicaragua.
This month I also got to visit with the couple that now run our feeding center in the mountains of Matagalpa. They are doing an amazing job and connecting with the kids each day and sharing Jesus. We are so grateful that as we said yes to a big transition with Jesus that He is so faithful and good to care for those we love.
This month will be the last month for our scholarship program and feeding program in the La Chureca trash dump community. We took 5 months to transition this program and we will still be helping with one time projects like backpack and uniform purchases and various other things as we have set up a plan for each child to stay in school. Our biggest transition is that we will no longer be running the tutoring center anymore. We have a computer lab in the community that the children will continue to have access to and also other feeding centers are available now for them as well. The truth is that transitions are hard and also complicated. We are experiencing that. At the same time we are also experiencing deep peace and the fruit of obedience and seeing many many lives changed and a beautiful harvest of souls for Jesus.
We trust in the Lord that His ways are higher and that He is a good Father. No one is left out in His Kingdom. He leaves the 99 for the 1 and so we trust in Him and what He is asking of us. And what a great joy to serve our beautiful King and Savior with our whole lives. Bless you all and please feel free to reach out if you need prayer or have any questions about what it means to be born again and to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Sending you all a big hug and lots of love from all us in Nicaragua.
