He cares for us!

¨DO NOT FEAR THEREFORE; YOU ARE OF MORE VALUE THAN MANY SPARROWS.¨MATTHEW 10:31>
I looked out my bedroom window at the big green tree in our garden. It is a tree I really enjoy looking at because it has character! And not only that...it is a safe haven for lots of little birds. I wake daily in the soft morning light to their happy songs and imagine how safe they feel in my tree. They have turned it into a nesting ground and have entrusted its spreading branches with at least one carefully woven brown birds’ nest.
As I looked out the window, I caught sight of some of our little girls standing under the tree and staring up into its branches. In their hands they held a long, slim bamboo pole. I suddenly had this weird feeling that they were up to no good! I handed my baby boy to my husband and hurried out of the house. As I turned the corner and came upon the ¨adventurers¨ standing under my tree, they hardly noticed I had approached.
¨Hi girls. What are you up to?¨
They turned and looked at me with their deep brown eyes.
¨We got an egg.¨ One of the girls opened her hand and showed me a teeny-weeny bird´s egg.
¨Oh girls!¨ I looked sorrowfully at the little egg. ¨ What do you plan on doing with this egg? ¨
¨We want to fry it (to eat),¨ they announced matter-of-factly.
I tried in vain to hide my shocked disapproval. ¨Oh, my! You want to fry it?¨
I proceeded to explain to them why I did not agree with their plan!
¨The birds need to know that they are safe here, girls. This tree is for them, to be protected and happy. I do not want you to take out their eggs from their nests anymore, nor catch the birds to eat them...not from THIS tree.¨ We continued talking and my mind began to wander.
What does God say in His Word about ¨little birds¨? He says that even if one little sparrow falls to the ground, HE SEES IT! And if He cares about a baby bird (that some people pop in the pan to add to their meal!), how much more will He care for US! He sees when we cry tears that no one else sees. He understands when we feel like our hearts are going to break. He knows what it feels like to be rejected, forgotten, and left to one side. He knows when we are tired and worn out in this life and feel incapable of taking one more step.
And He has prepared a safe Haven for us... a safe place... a place of protection, of comfort, of happiness. This place is in His Presence. All we need to do is run into His arms.
