When our family arrived as new long term missionaries in Dondo we were told of how powerful the prison ministry had been. It was interrupted by the focus of efforts after the cyclone devastated the people of Mozambique. When asked if we wanted to be involved in reestablishing the ministry, I knew it was an assignment from the Lord. So far, every other Tuesday I (Lloyd) get the amazing opportunity to minister in the Dondo, Mozambique prison.
Every week, the guard opens the doors and I walk out into their open yard with hundreds of prisoners. These men worship like few churches I’ve ever attended. They bless the Lord and usher in a move of God. Every week there is an increase of the experience of God among us. Their steadily increasing appetite for God coupled with heightened expectation, proper teaching and operation of ministry has caused a steady increase of our experience of the power of God. I can already see an increase of the works of God because the men are growing in their faith to see God move among them. The progression and increase of healings and deliverances are steadily growing with intensity as they hunger to know Him more each time we meet.
After the main message, the Lord had me call out anyone with right knee issues. Six Mozambicans came forward and were prayed for and healed. Wait there’s more....
After that a man was helped up to the front. He was unable to walk and needed someone to help him. I knew he was the one! The one God had on His heart. His knee was swollen to the size of a basketball. He knew he would be healed and the power of God blasted him!!! He began to move his leg noticing the pain was gone. He looked up at me and began walking, turning away from his fellow inmates so they couldn’t see the tears flowing. In this prison there is freedom!!!
