Feeding 1000 and finding water!

Dear friends and family,

One month into the New Year and we trust you are having a very blessed year of divine breakthroughs and answered prayers

We started our ministry activities in December by handing out 200 gift bags of stationery to local school going children. We also held various Christmas celebrations attended by more than 1000 children from the communities around us. We told them why we celebrate the birth of Jesus and why He is so important to us, then played games and gave them each a celebratory lunch

On Christmas Day we were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of two huge trucks carrying the equipment required to drill the borehole we had ordered almost a year ago.

We were so excited and the next day, whilst amazed neighbors looked on, the hole was successfully drilled and an abundant supply of fresh water was found

We now have the only borehole in the area but with a very erratic electricity supply that only works after dark to pump water, we now need two large tanks to store water in for use during the day, one for us and one for the community. We also need a substantial fence to secure our new equipment and to stop it from being vandalized.

We have been blessed by visitors who have all spent a few days with us. The children and I have enjoyed hearing of their adventures and achievements in the various ministries they are involved with.

There is once again political unrest as Guinea waits to vote in the next elections on 6th February. The 800 children attending our Hope Academy schools have spent days at home after the schools had to be closed to ensure their safety,

Our own primary school children, who have a half hour walk to and from school every day, arrived home from school early a few days ago, screaming and crying in terror after violent political unrest erupted close to their school.

The schools have remained closed so they have stayed at home ever since. Fortunately, we have been blessed with the company of 5 visiting missionaries who have chatted and played games with them and this has lessened the horror of what they witnessed outside their school.

Having a minibus to take our small children to and from school during times of the all to often political unrest, extreme summer temperatures and the endless tropical rainstorms in winter is now a very urgent need and we ask you to please pray in agreement with us that we will get this minibus soon.

We trust that by our next journal update God would have supplied our urgent needs and that His presence will be felt in our country, giving us the peace, prosperity and security we have prayed for for so long.

We trust our Gracious Lord's presence will reign in your lives and testimonies of His Goodness in you and your family's lives will abound.

Sending our love and blessings,

Sia and the children
