It is very important that children get to play because as Maria Montessori once said “play is the work of the child,” and like all children the children at Zimpeto LOVE to “work” and there is not a moment that one doesn’t get to see our many children at play. The might not have all the latest toys, and gadgets but this does not mean they cannot play, they have amazing imaginations and can create the most incredible creations and toys out of very little. Typically this time of year is very windy, so the latest trend is making and flying kites. They use sticks and a plastic bag for the kite part, and a shredded old rice sake to make the string, their creativity is just amazing….

When they are not flying their kites, the kids can be found enjoying their new playground. The base has been blessed with donations that made it possible to give the old playgrounds (both the toddlers' and the main playground) a make-over The baby house (age 1-4 years) now not only has a very child-friendly colourful climbing apparatus, where they can play and develop their gross motor muscles but also has a swing set and a car which has been proven as a hit for imaginary play with them going on trips to the shops, beach and other fun places. There is also tyre horses, which they love to ride, especially since some of them have had an opportunity to go horse riding at a local stable. The older children’s playground is just as awesome, with swings, slides, ropes, tyres, monkey bars and even a climbing wall and boxing bag. Their excitement when the playground was opened was uncontainable, and their smiles and joy as they play priceless…
