Iris South Sudan began it’s journey in 2006 in a little town called Yei where Michele Perry started a children’s home for orphaned and abused children. Since then it has grown to include operations in Aweil and Juba where we have two pastors and also in Chukudum where a local pastor is also caring for about thirty orphans at his small children’s home. Iris South Sudan helps to sponsor operations in these cities and continues to evangelize and disciple pastors and church members in many other towns and villages along the way. The Iris Yei Children’s Village currently cares for 130 children of all ages. Since 2013 Iris South Sudan has been under the direction of Carolyn Figlioli who has been a part of Iris South Sudan since 2010.
Iris South Sudan has also formed the Iris Harvest Fellowship which allows the body of Christ in Yei and neighboring villages to come together and help each other through discipleship and teaching and preaching across all denominations. Our focus is on Holy Spirit and what He wants to do to bring freedom and life into the body of Christ here in South Sudan. We do this by partnering with local pastors to host conferences and workshops. We are also partnering with the Sudanese People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) chaplains in the Yei Brigade to bring desperately needed teaching and training to their Army chaplains as they go into all of South Sudan to minister to their troops. God is doing a big work in the hearts of these precious soldiers.
Our vision is to bring the truth and love of the gospel of Jesus Christ to this nation by our words and our deeds. We honor the culture and seek to learn as much from them and how they love and forgive and seek peace, in spite of what they have been through for fifty years of war. They are truly a remarkable people and it is an honor to stand side by side with them in their struggle for unity. This is our ultimate goal, unity in the body and unity in this nation, all under the headship of God Almighty.
